In fourth grade, I rang my best friend at the time, Evans, and told him it was nice knowing him, and proceeded to hide under a table. I had just watched a 60 Minutes report on planetary alignment that would destroy the Earth. They even had a giant lazer beam included in the animated graphic. Since then, I have maintained a healthy amount of distrust and skepticism for the news media and end-of-the-world theories.
